Jackson man accused of raping 14-year-old girl

Officers from Cape Girardeau County arrested Kerry L. Taylor, 39, of Jackson on Friday in connection with a sexual assault investigation, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

Taylor allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl, the release said.

The victim was interviewed and treated at the Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence after her mother reported the assault to the sheriff's department.

Taylor was arrested for driving while suspended but later charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy and misdemeanor sexual assault.

Taylor is being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond.
