In 1982, then-Sgt. John Brown told a group of worried Cape Girardeau residents that he was sure the police department would find the killer of five local women.

And they have - 25 years later.

On Dec. 10, the Cape Girardeau Police Department and Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced charges being filed in the 1977 and 1982 deaths of Mary and Brenda Parsh, Sheila Cole, Margie Call and Mildred Wallace.

In this special semissourian.com project, read about the man who confessed to the five deaths, follow the story as it unfolded 30 years ago through newspaper clippings and file photographs, learn about the evidence trail that led police to the suspect after so many decades, and read the reminisces of those who worked the crimes when they occurred.

It is amazing that one person did all those horrible things. We are very lucky he has spent so much time in prison or there would have surely been more killings. I am glad this has been solved. I hope they will be able one day solve the Bonnie Huffman case and find out what happened to the young lady missing from Scott City. Keep up the good work!

This story speaks volume for the fine work of the area police departments. Way to go!

While this story brings some closure to these crimes, there are still unsolved mysteries in our area.

Please do all you can to help solve the Bonnie Huffman case!

I love the photo's of Brenda Parsh. My first reaction was crying with joy that Brenda's killer would finally be put away, and Brenda could rest in peace along with the other victims. I will pray until the day that Timothy Krajcir dies that he will burn in hell for eternity, and suffer a thousand times the suffering that he inflicted on his victims. These women did not deserve to die these horrific deaths.

DNA solved these crimes some 30 years later!

I will not be so quick to praise the CPD for solving anything!Without the fact that current felon prisoners are having to submit

their dna samples these crimes would still be

unsolved!

I went to school with Brenda Parsh and she was also a friend of mine in College. I was sickened at the time when I heard of her death and the death of her mother, who were both such nice people. And of course further sickened by the deaths of the other women, who I did not know. It was a very scary time as my mother was living alone in her house during the time of the murders and was very frightened. I am very happy we now know who killed them all. He destroyed so many lives. I too hope he rots in hell.

Does anyone know if Brenda's sister and father are still alive?

GW: It still took good police work to make the case and put the pieces of the puzzle together.

I am a niece of Bonnie Huffman and I just wanted to tell these families that I am so glad that they finally have closeure to these brutal murders their loved ones endured. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. Maybe one day we will have closure also. Great job Cape PD!! God Bless You All!!

I went to college with Sheila Cole, we were Pike Little Sisters together and for awhile, she lived in the same dorm-Towers North where I did. It was very upsetting when she disappeared and later was found-everyone was in a state of shock and fear. She geniunely was a very nice person and well liked. I can only hope that some of her family is still alive to finally have a sense of closure in her death. It is such a shame that it has taken so long for her case to be solved.

What has ever happened to the case with the young girl from Fredricktown that disappeared while riding her bike to a local store. Has this case been checked for any connection to this monster?
