Salvation Army kicks off holiday season

Salvation Army Christmas basket applications will be taken from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 30. Applications are available at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope St. in Cape Girardeau.

A picture identification is required for the individual signing up, along with Social Security cards for other individuals in the household. Other items needed include proof of address, income and expenses.

Salvation Army bell ringing at various locations in Cape Girardeau and Jackson will begin Friday. The $270,000 goal will be used for the ongoing operation of the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army will hold a kettle kickoff at 10 a.m. Saturday at West Park Mall. Christmas music will be performed. For more information about programs or volunteering to ring bells, call 335-7000.
