Rock star to Huckabee: Quit stealing my music

Tom Scholz, chief songwriter and founder of the '70s rock group Boston, has a message for presidential candidate Mike Huckabee: You've got no right to use our music! The Associated Press reported Monday that Scholz has told Huckabee to cease and desist from using "More Than a Feeling" on his campaign. Apparently Scholz supports Sen. Barack Obama for president. There is a local tie here through many degrees of separation -- Kimberley Dahme, Boston's current bassist, has played Cape Girardeau on several occasions, including Tunes at Twilight and the River City Music Festival (formerly City of Roses). Kimberley has also played twice at Stooges in Jackson.
She is truly a class act.
Oh and by the way, plug time....
Scott Holt, who played guitar in Buddy Guy's band for over 10 yrs.will be playing at Stooges with his band this coming Saturday night(2/23)from 8-12.
Check out his music and credentials at http://www.scottholt.com/
Doug Rees is now playing Stooges from 7-11 P.M. every Thursday night. He is booked through the summer on Thursday with most all the Tunes at Twilight acts.
Can't blame Scholz for being upset. But, he doesn't have a case.
I always wondered what The Pretenders thought about Rush Limbaugh using thier music as his theme song.
Here is what I suggest. All political candidates should use the Frank Zappa song "Flakes" in thier campaigns.
Lump, I don't think they were fond of it, but they cash the checks. :)
Ok.. Hold on I have to think up a plug for me too... since a lot of people think it's ok to turn the blogs into commercials...
OK I got it..

I AGREE AND SUGGEST EVERYONE STOP BUYING AND LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC. LOTS OF PEOPLE PLAY HIS MUSIC IN CLUBS ETC.
I FOR ONE WILL NEVER BUY YOUR CDS/
PBISEABREEZE
"Lot's of people play his music in clubs"... What clubs do you go to? And why would you buy a 1970's Boston CD anyway?
I used to own a bar, and in order to have live music played you have to buy a licence to cover all royalties.
I also had a juke box and the yearly cost from the co. that provided it, covered the licence fees for the royalties of music artists.
Just another lib getting upset.
Oh well, as long as they (Huckabee's campaign) pay the licensing fees, there isn't a thing the liberal guy can do.
Instead of "Rock Star" in the headline, shouldn't it read "Has been".
Tom Scholz is the man.
Yeah, let's all not buy a copy of a piece of music that has already sold like 30,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 copies since the Ford admisistration.
That will show him!
